National Theatre Case Study

National Theatre

The National Theatre in London is one of the most renowned and prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, it stands as a symbol of artistic excellence and innovation. The National Theatre was established in 1963 with the aim of presenting a repertoire of classic and contemporary plays that reflect the diversity and richness of British theatre. Its mission is to bring the best of British theatre to a wide audience and to nurture and promote new talent.

Project Description:

Boost Consultancy worked with EP Hospitality and Business to complete a strategic review of the Food and Drink offer at the National Theatre to provide the NT board with recommendations on different operating models that would create an exciting and sustainable food and drink offer for the future.

What we delivered:

The project began with a business review of National Theatres current operating model to gain a thorough understanding of their business. We benchmarked what a best-in-class operation looked like providing examples of where this had been successfully implemented.

The next stage was creating 4 different models, each with a 5-year financial forecast which we then presented to the NT board highlighting our recommended option that would deliver an operating model that reflected the Theatres brand by being genuinely creative, relevant and resonant for ticketed and no-ticketed audiences.

"I would highly recommend Paula. She has a strong understanding of commercial hospitality operations and is one of those rare people who you can completely trust. She has a strong value set and will never let anyone down. She is a good communicator, honest and straightforward. A top-class operator and consultant."
